Jerry’s main concern
in the beginning of the short story “President Cleveland, where are you?” is to
satisfy his own desires. He empties his wallet to obtain presidential trading
cards. His brother chastises him for it, and at the end of the story, Jerry
learns to sacrifice for his family.
