Greetings!

"Rewrite this expression: [tex]36/3(4)[/tex]. What does the parenthesis represent?"...

When you see this in a expression/equation,
[tex]3(4)[/tex]
It mean to multiply the number to the right of the parenthesis by the number inside the parenthesis.

So, you can rewrite the equation as:
[tex]36/3*4[/tex]

Hope this helps.
