0.5(5-7x)=8-(4x+6)To start distribute the 0.5 and the negative to get 2.5-3.5x=8-4x-6
minus the 6 from the  to get 2.5-3.5x=2-4x
subtract the 2 from both sides (it doesn't matter what side you choose to leave the x on when you solve, you will still get the same answerI) to get 0.5-3.5x=-4x
add the 3.5 to both sides to get 0.5=-7.5x
divide by -7.5 to get x=-0.066666666
