The commutative property is the order in which they're presented, so if 4*5=20, the property allows you to switch the two, and you get 5*4=20.

4x5=20 
5x4=20

the Commutative Property allows you to rewrite the equation with out changing the answer. But only works with Multiplication and Addition.
