Answer:

Lysosomes contain numerous types of enzymes like proteases, lipase, amylase and more in acidic medium that upon fusing with a membrane, will release all the enzymes to stimulate the cells to undergo apoptosis.

Hence the cells that form the interdigital membrane of developing mammalian fetus will die off and acts as a part of the process of removing the unwanted tissues of the developing fetus.
