Set is a metaphoric representation of desert and storms. He had a vital role as he accompanies Ra on his fight with Apep, the serpent of Chaos. He was a lord of the desert where he was the balance to Horus’ role as lord of the black soil. He was also portrayed in the Egyptian mythology as someone who killed and mutilated his own brother in order to take its position.
